The Honduras Dental Project is a Christ centered association seeking to witness to His grace by sharing the Good News of God's love with the people of Honduras by providing dental and medical services to those who are in need.
In 2001, a group of hard working Christians of all denominations decided to "walk the talk" and really try to make a difference in the lives of others. In the true spirit of teamwork, dentists, hygienists, assistants, service technicians, professionals of all kinds, retired-folks and even sales people get together once a year and travel to the country of Honduras to help children and adults in need. The people that live in this part of the world have little to nothing. However, each February, for a few days, they are cared for, counseled and loved by this team. Through God's blessing, the Honduras Dental Project was formed in January 2005.
Poverty is the big enemy in Honduras, with the average per capita income being $2.00/day. The devastation of Hurricane Mitch in 1998 set development back by decades. Needed dental and medical services are scarce. Land has been provided at Villa Linda Miller (VLM) for the Honduras Dental Project clinic. Recently nominated #1 in all of Honduras, VLM is a 165 family reconstruction site that developed following Hurricane Mitch. VLM is unique in that the people built their own community. Necessary materials were provided, but the strategic planning, preparation and construction was done by them. We are very proud and thankful that VLM is the site for our clinic. The clinic will provide year-round services for VLM and for three other nearby reconstruction sites, El Hogar's all-boy orphanage and the Micah Project. An estimated 4300 people will be served through this clinic.
